OLL News: Confirmation, Stations and DeLaRosa
returns to OLL to lead a 4 week class on the Passion Narratives. Mark is a dear friend of our parish and an award-winning theology instructor at Cardinal Gibbons High School. Sunday mornings at 10:15am in the Bernadette Center.
On Thursday, March 7th, our bishop, the Most Reverend Luis Rafael Zamara, conferred the sacrament of confirmation upon eighty young adults. The students hailed from three Raleigh parishes: St. Luke the Evangelist, Our Lady of LaVang and Our Lady of Lourdes.
Before Mass, the Bishop Zarama dialogued with the students on a variety of topics from his own vocation and life as a bishop to personal topics including his favorite food and music. Deacon Byron led a discussion with their sponsors on what “love” means today: unconditional and ever true to Christ. The sponsor group also shared ways to affirm the tender graces of the sacrament being received by these young adults.
Bishop Zarama asked the students to reflect on the gifts God has given them, to find joy in life, and to be moved by what God has planted in their hearts. As a practical matter, he encouraged the students to take a moment and “turn off your device” but use the same energy and engagement to “turn on your heart and text Jesus”. Then await His reply.
Congratulations to all those confirmed! May they be blessed with the gifts of the Holy Spirit! Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us!
