Our New Pastor, Reverend Patrick A. Keane
Fr. Pat was born in Winston-Salem, NC on August 31, 1961 to William James Keane (dec.) and Julia Joski (dec.) the youngest of four children. He was baptized on March 17, 1962 by Father Jesse Creel at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Winston-Salem.
He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University in 1984. He worked for NCDOT from 1984-1995 and he received a Master Degree in Civil Engineering in 1990.
During the time he worked for DOT, he answered God’s call to be a priest. He entered the Diocesan program of discernment in 1996. He did a pastoral year at Our Lady of Lourdes in Raleigh (1996-1997) and then went to El Salvador for a year of missionary work (1997-1998). In 1998 he entered St. Mary’s Seminary in Baltimore, Maryland. His summer assignments were: Clinton (1999), Kinston (2000), CPE at WakeMed (2001), Spanish Studies, Guadalajara Mexico (2002).
He was ordained to the transitional diaconate January 11, 2003 and to the priesthood on May 31, 2003 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, in Raleigh, North Carolina by Bishop Joseph Gossman.
For his first assignment he was sent to St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fayetteville, North Carolina as Parochial Vicar (2003-2005). In 2005, he was assigned to St. Mark Catholic Church in Wilmington, North Carolina also as Parochial Vicar. In 2006 he was appointed Vicar for Hispanics, a position he held until 2008. He was Pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Newton Grove and then St. Mary in Goldsboro. His last parish assignment was as pastor of St. Mark in Wilmington.
With his desire to be a missionary priest, Fr. Pat founded a foundation called THE LEAST AMONG US. Through this foundation, he is able to carry on with his mission work by building Catholic schools and providing scholarships in El Salvador, Central America.
Fr. Pat enjoys lifting weights, playing golf, old cars, Military History and has two Siamese cats: Lucy and Agnes.

The liturgy began with The Service of Light. Outside, a fire was prepared and the people gathered around it to experience the flames dispelling the darkness and lighting up the night. Thus the beauty of the fire, its warmth and its light, drew the liturgical assembly together.

One of the unique aspects of the Easter Vigil is the recounting of the outstanding deeds of the history of salvation. These deeds were related in seven readings from the Old Testament chosen from the law and the prophets and two readings from the New Testament, namely from the apostles and from the gospel.

During the Vigil Liturgy, Bailey Butler (below) was Baptised and Confirmed, and Sean Asher was Confirmed. Congratulations Bailey and Sean!

On Saturday, March 10th, one of our faith community's RCIA candidates, Meg Fender, became a full member of the Catholic Church with the reception of First Eucharist and Confirmation. Prior to this celebration, Meg and her husband, Mike, had their marriage blessed by Fr. Michael. It was a joy filled morning that was shared with her sponsor, Gabby Amos, family and friends.by Kathy Schultz
